I'm new to classical mechanics and I've just learned about D'Alembert's principle and Lagrange equation. But I dont think I fully understand it. I understand the math behind the conversion from D'Alemberts principle to E-L equation, but not really the meaning of these equations. What does D'Alemberts principle actually state? Same with the Lagrange equation. Is there a link between these two equations?
