A hero, or Overworlder[2], is the terminology used for the player character within Minecraft Legends.
A player must choose a hero on the Hero Select[3] screen before playing the game. Many options are available. Unlike in Minecraft, no custom heroes can be brought into the game without using third party game mods. The appearance of the player's hero can be changed with various skins.
A hero interacts with in-game objects, mobs, and non-player characters (NPCs). The NPCs interact with the player's hero. The in-game narrator also refers to the player character as the "hero".
In contrast to the hero, the player interacts with things outside the game, such as game menus like the hero selector, options, purchasing downloadable content (DLC), and developer interactions.
