Earth:Unused features

Since the beginning of Minecraft Earth's development, there have been a number of features added to the game that have little to no actual use. Some of these features were leftovers from removed features, or simply placeholders for new features in future updates.

Legendary Adventure Chests were added in 0.11.0, but remained only in the game files and had no functionality in the future.

Icons and descriptions

The game files contained icons of some blocks and their journal descriptions, but they were not in the game.

Utility blocks

It was planned to add all the utility blocks to the game from the original Minecraft. One of the developers wrote about this in the Minecraft Earth Discord Server.[1] Below is a list of blocks that already have an icon and a description of the journal:

Nether blocks

It was planned to add the Nether and all Nether blocks to the game.[2] This was stated by one of the game's developers. Some of them have already been added, such as the glowstone, but not all of them have been added.

Obsidian

Perfect for building a blast resistant structure.

Obsidian in-game description

From the very beginning of the game's development, obsidian was in Minecraft Earth, but later this block was removed for revision, and eventually it did not make it back into the game.

Purpur blocks

The game also had textures and descriptions of the End blocks, but no one reported that there were plans to add End blocks.

Descriptions only

Some blocks had neither an icon nor a code, but had a journal description the game files. Below is a list of blocks and their descriptions:

Textures

Spawn Eggs

The wooly cow spawn egg can be found next to the Wooly Cow texture in the game files. It is the only inventory icon representing a spawn egg that can be found.

Spawn egg textures for Cluckshrooms, Horned Sheep, Jumbo Rabbits and Mooblooms can also be found next to each mob's texture in the game files.

One of the game's artists also shared the inventory icons of several unimplemented spawn eggs:

Old Experience reward

This is the old icon for the experience orb. It was replaced but remained present in the game files.

Menu icons

Three unused menu icons are present in the game files. The first two are the old icons for Settings and Adventures, but the third, Skilltree, seems to be a placeholder for the Seasons.

Planned items

Due to Minecraft Earth shutting down, a lot of blocks and items never made it into the game. Some already had an inventory texture that went unused.
