How does a transmission slipping feel like? I have/had a Honda Accord 2016, about 100k miles driven. Long story short, I brought my car in to trade in for a new one. The dealership took it for a drive to test it out and said the transmission was slipping, I think from 1st to 2nd or from 2nd to 3rd. I don't think they mentioned any other gears slipping. I was too shocked, then angry to remember everything that was said.
Afterwards, I looked up what it should feel like, which was:
- delayed or sluggish response when pressing the gas or
- unusual noises.
Maybe I don't drive super aggressively but when I drive, I didn't feel any delay or sluggish response, nor do I hear any noise. Also, my mechanic never mentioned this when I brought my car in for its regular tune ups (or as regular as the car's computer told me to bring it in).
In any case, was the salesperson just trying to lower the value of my car by saying it had non-existent problems or does transmission issues have additional symptoms that I failed to detect? Is it possible the test driver was driving the car most aggressively than usual since they were testing the worst case scenario whereas I "baby" my car and drive WAAYY more gently than that?
