I am in the UK, and recently my car suffered a lot of problems. My parents offered to pay for the repairs if I gave them the car, which I did, and they have since paid around 4k in repairs (which is about 90% of the total value of the car).
I was going to transfer the V5 because I expected them to actually want the car, but they have kindly told me that I can still use it - they just want to remain the owners to give them something back for their investment.
I therefore don't want to update the V5, because I am keeping the car (and live in a different place to my parents), but soon the ownership is going to matter and I don't know how to prove the change of hands.
Can anyone help? I am not sure if this is the correct stack, but it seems the closest option.
My research is taking me round in circles, sites are saying the owner and the keeper can be different people, but to prove ownership I have to transfer the v5...
