I read the cap of the power steering container on my 2013 Infiniti g37 journey, and it said to use “Dexron type ATF”, so I put in valvoline dexron type 3. I then started the car and steered left and right a few times. I then searched it up and people said I needed dexron type 4, which is not compatible with type 3, so I took it out and put the old power steering fluid back in. Is my steering ruined? What do I do, do I need to flush the entire system?

Is it safe to drive to auto zone to replace the old power steering fluid with a compatible new one?

You may have already delt with this problem, but from what I read, you'll be fine if you drained it out and put the old fluid back in. I think you're comparing Dexron III(3) and VI(6), because I can't find where there was ever a Dexron IV. Anyway, drain it out and fill it back up with fresh Dexron VI and don't worry about it. Any small amount that is still in the steering rack will be fine.
