Started with computers (TRS-80 from Radio Shack/Tandy) when I was 16 (in 1980), started programming in Basic and assembly 6 months later. Picked up different programming languages and and more and more hardware knowledge. Got a B.Sc in electronics in 1986, worked as an engineer ever since on large military radio and computer systems. Fluent in a dozen computer languages. Started with Minix in 1999, done some fooling around with various Linux versions (the time you still had to compile over and over again). Went crazy from all unmet dependencies, over and over again. Happy with the Knoppix early versions to rescue Windows systems. Not to much with Linux on a regular basis.

In 2004 or early 2005 came across Ubuntu, ordered a pack of CD and tried it on my laptop (no joy). Later versions worked and started using it more and more. Ever since 2006 my main OS is Ubuntu. Started a small support group in the Netherlands. Still parts of Ubuntu/Linux are misty to me, other parts crystal clear. Sometimes non-boots of new versions of U are still misty to me. Also my graphics card (6600) started acting weird starting from U11.04. Still problems with that card, and its replacement. Switched back, tried both open and closed drivers for it, but still troublesome.

Also active with PowerBASIC windows and DOS compiler, and still hoping one will see the daylight for Linux... all for now.
