Handyman-Girl owns and operates several profitable businesses all under one name known as Handyman-Girl Organization.
Each business has the best team for their particular job. We own and operate a Handyman Business, we also Teach others how to do home repairs safely.
We run a Marketing Business and we also hold classes to Teach others how to Market their own business. We write books on everything about Marketing your business which we Self Publish.
I am extremely proud of all my businesses but the one I am the most proud of is Raising Money to help Underprivileged Youths Stay Off The Streets and to Get them into College. We also do everything possible to make sure they Graduate from College.
We only started the nonprofit 5 years ago and I am so proud of the kids that received our scholarships.
As of May 2024 we have been able to put 100 kids through college. 99 of those kids graduated and one poor soul passed away. He was caught in a drive by shooting.
I walked out of the library with this young man that day. He was in the nursing program, I was an RN for 22 years so he called to ask for help.
After tutoring him for 5 hours.I walked out telling him he will definitely pass his mid term.
I did not notice the car/gunman. He jumped in front of me. It should’ve been me that day. A day doesn’t go by without me feeling guilty. If I was paying attention I should’ve jumped in front of him.
The reason I’m proudest of this part of Handyman-Girl is because I was these kids. Homeless at 15, angry at the world, committing petty crimes just to eat, never able to think about a future.
If a fleeting thought of the future entered my head it never seemed good. I had no hope for a future so I know exactly how these kids feel. I lived it.
I got arrested breaking into my old high school. I slept in a baseball dugout for 5 1/2 years. I would break into the school every morning at 4am so I could shower, wash my clothes, raid the cafeteria just to go to my crappy little job.
See if you don’t have an address to put on a job application and you give a pay phone as your phone number no one wants to hire you.
The police officer that caught me wanted to wait for the principal. We waited he tried talking to me, I answered arrogantly so I wouldn’t cry. Principal arrived, told Officer I was a straight A student, tutored classmates, took care of my little brother, worked and that my mother was an abusive alcoholic.
He didn’t arrest me. He helped me, got others to help me, set me up in an apartment.
If the arresting officer wasn’t him things would’ve turned out a lot different. I finally had hope so I enrolled in college. I received my BSN and worked at a trauma hospital as a trauma nurse.
