Edubuntu (aka Ubuntu Education Edition) is an official version of Ubuntu Linux designed for use in classrooms and schools. The latest release is Edubuntu 23.04, which will be supported for 9 months, until January 2024.

Edubuntu has some features that makes customizing for educational purposes easier:

  • The Edubuntu Installer can be used to configure the system with predefined settings for a specific age group and educational level (Preschool, Elementary, Middle/High and College/University).
  • The Edubuntu Menu Administrator can be used to configure which applications are hidden in the menus for non-root users.
