basic overview of problem:

goal: trying to install a new linux os (any working one is fine)
key problem: the laptop does not boot from usb

laptop = lenovo u310 (none of the reset / bios methods work)
os = mint 18.1 (completely dysfunctional, crashes and freeze randomly like a min after booting the os)

on 'GNU GRUB' version 2.02~'

it has the option 'UNetbootin'

when i select this and press enter

it shows a black screen, black screen says:

running early hook [udev] starting version 232

other things

then

mounting 'dev/disk/by-label/' to 'run/miso/bootmnt'

then stuff

ERROR: '/deve/disk/by-label/' device did not show up after 30 secondds...'

Falling back to interactive prompt You can try to fix the problem manually, log out when you are finished

sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

[rootfs ]#

where i can type something

im very new to linux so please explain what should be done and why? to solve this problem
