I recently installed Ubuntu 16.04.2 on my desktop and when I booted into the software, I noticed I couldn't change the resolution. It is currently stuck at 640x480 (4:3). I have looked up solutions and have tried them, but none worked.

Hardware specs:

  • Nvidia GTX Geforce 1050 Ti Graphics Card
  • AMD 6 Core Processor
  • ASRock Motherboard
  • 8GB of DDR4 Ram.

How can I change the resolution to 1920x1080 at 60 Hz?

Go to Settings → Software PropertiesAdditional drivers, select and apply the recommended drivers. Then reboot.
