I've already tried the gdebi solution but unfortunately it didn't work. When I run

sudo gdebi rstudio-1.0.136-amd64.deb

it appears:

Dependency is not satisfiable: libgstreamer0.10-0

If you are wondering I also already did de install -f, autoclean, autoremove,etc procedures... But all of them let me here as well.

  1. First download and install libgstreamer0.10-0_0.10.36-1.5_amd64.deb
  2. Then download and install libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0_0.10.36-2_amd64.deb
  3. Then try installing R-Studio

RStudio has a new preview out that doesn't require libgstreamer0.1 (it uses the new libgstreamer1.0 in Ubuntu 16). You can try it here:

This will become the stable build in the next few weeks.

I just installed the Ubuntu 16.10 and tried to install RStudio with the exact same error messages. The sudo apt-get -f install does not work either.

I ended up installing an archived version of RStudio, version 0.98.1103 seems to work. https://support.rstudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/206569407-Older-Versions-of-RStudio
