My first question has been 'answered' I suppose before but I'm damned if i can find anybody who has actually done so.

Having ditched win 10 as it was totally frustrating any attempts to get a reliable audio set-up namely midi, I decided to have another try with linux which seemed much more stable with its latest iteration.

I made an installable usb and proceeded.

I installed without too much hassle except that it ignored my win drive and made itself at home on my 2T storage drive.

I didn't worry about that because i did intend to put it there anyway.

There never was a grub menu only the logon screen and password for Ubuntu. When I boot up I get the Ubuntu logo as if it was the only OS on the computer.

Everything was fine and I managed to set myself up just as I wanted. I see that my win drive was dismounted and ignored.

Recently booting has become problematic namely getting a simple password login as before.

Now it hibernates but refuses to wake up again without multiple switching off and on.

When it does decide to cooperate I get a pixelated display which clears eventually.

When I run firefox it stutters and jerks running slowly and becoming unresponsive which clears again.

Should I try to establish a grub menu with boot repair or is there anything else you can suggest.

Thanks
