I had a dual boot win10/Ubuntu 22.04 for almost a year and it worked well until it didn't. I removed Ubuntu for several month and installed it again for work purpose(devops). It worked well for several days and then the entire system became extremely slow again.
Launching applications takes minutes instead of ~1 second, terminal is slow and stuck, chrome is stuck and not responsive, the system is completely unusable for productive work.
I tried:
- Updating all packages via apt and snap
- Restarting several times
- Monitoring system resources. RAM, CPU, network and disk are barely used at all (!)
- Only starting a single program
I'm quite unsure what could have caused it to become so slow after being very pleasantly fast because my windows 10 runs smoothly with 0 problems.
