to whom it may concern..

i am working with Ubuntu now for more than 6 years quite happy. Last week I upgraded from Ubuntu 22.04 to 24.04 (Noble Numbat, 6.8.0-59-generic).

Problem 1: I have an NTFS partition (p7) on my HDD, which acts as shared data partition between Ubuntu and Win7. Now in 24.04 I can't access this partition anymore with the normal Gnome file browse application, while on my backup system 22.04 it still works fine. The error msg is:

<error mounting /dev/nvme0n1p7 at /media...: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on nvme0n1p7, missing codepage or helper program, or other error.>

Checking the partition with gparted shows no error, and using blkid and other tools also work fine, so I assume the problem is within the file app? Since I did not use my Win7-System for years now, the partition was never opened/used from windows anymore.

Problem2: I'm desparately missing gedit, don't like the behaviour of the new built-in file editor, is there a gedit version for 24.04? (could not find it in the apps-catalogue). Thanks for any help, rgds. Charly
