I should have known better but I got impatient waiting for the next reminder/invite to upgrade my up to date Ubuntu 22.04 install to the latest long term 24.04 and did an install of 24.04 from a live version on a bootable USB drive instead. All went well until I realized that my whole previous working environment was now in an sda5 partition @ /dev/sda5 and while it was accessible to read and write, it was not usable as a working environment. Too late I realized "Install" not the same as "Upgrade"...In my defense I will add that I've been a bit distracted these days...no excuse... :-( How do I get to a working 24.04 install...or failing that back to a working 22.04 install.
