Today, I downloaded a .deb file. It shows up in red in the terminal, as shown in the following screenshot:

I can not install them. I also used dpkg commands, but they still couldn't install the package.

Could somebody tell me why this might be happening and how can I install the package?

A red .deb file in the terminal usually means it's broken or missing dependencies. Try these steps:

  1. Check the file integrity:

    dpkg -I /path/to/file.deb

    If it's corrupted, re-download it.

  2. Install with dependencies:

    sudo dpkg -i /path/to/file.deb
    sudo apt --fix-broken install

  3. Use gdebi (if not installed, install it first):

    sudo apt install gdebi
    sudo gdebi /path/to/file.deb

If the issue persists, check for missing dependencies or logs in /var/log/dpkg.log.
