I am using Ubuntu 24.10 and set the middle button (Wheelpress) of my Logitech Lift mouse to mute the system sound via Solaar.

I now want the middle button to return to its default (so I can use it in FreeCad) and so have removed the Solaar rule for the middle button and completely restarted my laptop. I have even exited Solaar, but the middle button still mutes the sound.

How can I return the middle button back to its original settings?

Looks like you have changed the Persistent Key/Button Mapping setting of Solaar, which, as the name suggests, persistently changes the mapping. That means that even with Solaar closed, this mapping will still be enabled.

To revert this setting back to default:

  1. Open Solaar.

  2. Unlock the Persistent Key/Button Mapping setting by clicking on the lock pad on its right.

  3. Select Middle Button on the dropdown, and select Mouse Button Middle as its action.
