When attempting to update Ubuntu 16.04 to anything newer, (This machine has been shutdown for a few years) do-release-upgrade produces No new release found..

Many of the answers instruct to do sudo nano /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and set prompt=normal.

I've done that, but it still gives me the same result.

Since 16.04 is 8 years old now, I suppose there is no direct upgrade path through online services.

Is anyone able to give me a decent upgrade path that will work for these machines as they are quite powerful and can be very useful (512GB RAM, 48 Core)?
