I was installing updates or upgrade through the software updater. While downloading and installing those I tried installing another software through the software similar to Microsoft store on Windows. That's when I received a message saying that I don't have the permission to do so. I tried to click on Cancel, but it didn't respond. I tried to click on authentication button, but nothing happened.
I then performed REISUB to reboot. My system rebooted. When I was prompted to type my password to enter my session I did, but the desktop doesn't show up. I am brought back to where I have to type my password, meanwhile I'm already logged in, kind of like stuck in a loop.
I'm sure I have a session running because when I want to shut down, I get a message that other users are still logged in and I see my username. I tried reinstalling Ubuntu hoping the problem will be solved, but I am still stuck in that kind of loop even after reinstalling Ubuntu.
