2 computers on same router, both with ubuntu 22.04. I set up a folder on one computer for sharing. I go to the other computer and select "other locations". Both computers show up. I select the computer with the shared folder and it says it failed to connect because it failed to get a share list from server. I did try turning off my VPN on the 'sharing' computer but got the same failure due to share list not received.

There must be some simple way to setup and share files through the GUI interface.

The suggested answers are much too complicated and also don't apply to this version of Ubuntu. The "ubuntu to ubuntu" section had something called "Nautilus" which I assume was the "files" GUI for that version but is not the same.

If the directories are accessible from both PCs, meaning they are correctly configured.

Use the file browser to position yourself over the file and select copy.

Then go to the directory where you want to copy the file and select paste.
