I have just removed Windows stuff resulting in having two empty partitions on my hard disk. Now I would like to expand my Ubuntu's volume by using the empty space. I was doing this operation with a Kubuntu live USB stick, but after getting a message from GParted saying "Moving a partition might cause your operating system to fail to boot." I stopped everything and thought it was better for me to read something around the web and to ask here before doing anything.

These are the partitions on my PC:

currently, these are the partitions on my PC

As far as I understood, my system should not self-destruct as I'm not going to move the partition containing /boot (which is EFI System Partition, I suppose), I just want to expand the ext4 partition.

My questions are:

  1. Am I safe to go?
  2. Should I do something other than creating a backup?
