Since I wasn't able to make BackupPC work on Ubuntu 24 decided to go with Ubuntu 20 which has a working install for BackupPC, installed it and works but realized that is BackupPC v3 and have been asked to install v4.

Is there a way to do apt or apt-get to "upgrade" to BackupPC v4? Or a document to follow to update manually?

Or tell me which version of Ubuntu server comes with BackupPC 4.

BackupPC version 4 is in the default repositories of Ubuntu 22.04 and later. To install it open the terminal and type:

sudo apt install backuppc

Sometimes you can manually download the .deb file of the next version of a package from Ubuntu Packages Search, and then try to install it with sudo apt install ./packagename.deb. If there are any missing dependencies a command like this will tell you what other packages need to be downloaded manually and installed in order to install BackupPC version 4. This method won't succeed if you run into a problem with cascading unmet dependencies.
