From recent, when I am starting my PC, after the maker logo I see this (sorry for the image, I can't copy this):

Then, Ubuntu asks me for the user ID:

If to input this and the password, it will be the simple terminal session. Wee, but where did the GUI go? Working with the PC, I need the GUI, not the terminal.

I ran into a similar issue yesterday when I updated some packages on my Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS. My system already had some older packages when I upgraded it from Ubuntu 20.04-LTS. The Python versions got messed up, and I got a similar tty login screen. I tried many things such as fixing broken installation packages but everything was showing dependencies on one another. The commands to restart the GUI manager and startx also did not work. The last option that I tried and which worked is logging through recovery mode and selecting the option of fixing broken packages ( Please make sure you enable the network interfaces before doing that using one of the options in recovery mode-it will automatically connect to saved wifi credentials). I answered this in case someone who is also a beginner is looking for a solution). The recovery mode is your best friend in this case. it will also make sure that no user data is deleted.
