Laptop does not work anymore after attempting fix for non working USB port

Question

I have tried to fix my non working USB port according to the first answer in USB ports have completely stopped working

I have Ubuntu 20.04

However after the reebot noting works anymore. When I start the laptop I get the following:

I never got this before. The laptop was always booting with Ubuntu right away.

When I select Ubuntu I get the following and then nothing works anymore:

When I select ' Advanced options for Ubuntu' I can select

1. Ubuntu with Linux 5.13.0-1028-oem
2. Ubuntu with Linux 5.13.0-1028-oem ( recovery mode)
3. Ubuntu with Linux 5.13.0-1026-oem
4. Ubuntu with Linux 5.13.0-1026-oem ( recovery mode)
5. Ubuntu with Linux 5.13.0-27-generic
6. Ubuntu with Linux 5.13.0-27-generic ( recovery mode)

Shall I select one if the recovery modes? Or will my data then get lost???

Please help!! What can I do to fix everything?? I need help since I need my laptop to give a talk soon!
