But still can't make it work.

When I type this command, I'm getting:

$ hciconfig hci0 sspmode 1 Can't set Simple Pairing mode on hci0: Network is down (100)

If you dual-boot with Windows, pair the mouse in Windows, using the Logitech Unifying software. Also configure the mouse speed settings, etc. in the Mouse settings panel. It'll remember these setting when you boot back into Ubuntu.

In Ubuntu, you can install Solaar and try some of the pairing and configuration there.
