Ludger O. Suarez-Burgoa, PhD, C.Eng, M.ASCE, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National University of Colombia. He teaches Tunnels in the postgraduate program in Geotechnical Engineering and is the Laboratory Director of the Faculty of Mines. He has worked as a consultant and researcher for over twenty years in the field of civil and mining geotechnics in South America, with an emphasis on rock mechanics and underground works. He researches rock mass in geological complexities within the framework of his knowledge of bimsoils and bimrocks. He is the director of the Mathematical and Computational Geology Research Group, part of the geotechnical research group at his university, where several open-source and free software programs were developed.
