Hi! My name is Madeline Furtado and I am a designer based in California. I am currently an undergraduate at the University of California, Davis where I am double majoring in Art History and Design. After graduating from UC Davis, I hope to pursue a career as a curator or exhibition designer at an art museum.

I recently worked on an exhibition at the Manetti Shrem Museum of Art as a Guest Curator and Guest Exhibition Designer for the exhibition Light into Density: Abstract Encounters 1920s-1960s. Here is a photo of the gallery space:

My area of focus is spatial and experiential designs, however, I am also fascinated by product designs.

In terms of my repair experience, I have beginner level skills in sewing and mending, which I would hope to use in my projects. I also have a hobby in jewelry making. This hobby has taught me ways to repair broken jewelry such as broken chains, replacing broken lobster clasps, and more handy repairs. My experience in jewelry making has also given me experience with various types of pliers and wire cutters. Here is an image of a necklace I designed and handcrafted:

Photography is also a major hobby of mine, so I think that my photography skills will be beneficial in creating clear repair guides with visual interest.

I hope to use the skills I have developed through my various hobbies for my repair projects in the future!
