Hello there! My name is Capreil Joseph. I am a sophomore at Sam Houston State University with a major in Kinesiology critical exercise science with a minor in athletic endorsements.

My interest in becoming an occupational therapist began with my cousins. I always loved playing volleyball, competing, and playing other sports. becoming a therapist for athletes has always appealed to me more than becoming an actual athlete in college. It wasn't until I got injured really bad that made me realise what athletes go through when they have a serious injury. This made me want to become an occupational therapist and maybe later I hope to have a rehabilitation clinic of my own.

While I was injured playing volleyball, I was able to learn more about protecting my body from injuries from amazing athletic trainers and therapists. I had to endure painful stretches and surgeries in order to feel better. After going through a few months of rehabilitation I continued to do what I could to better my injury. Daily workout plans allowed me to learn different ways to stretch out the pain. This is important because if I was to get stiff, recovery would take longer.

Not only was I able to learn how to better protect myself from injury, I also was able to learn how to take down and put up volleyball nets, simple tape wrapping for hands and feet, and stats. during my time I was injured I really could not do much. So to stay engaged I picked up other responsibilities to help my team. I've done a fair amount of tape wrapping for hyperextended fingers as well as applying KT take. I knew I wanted to help for the better so I became an athletic trainer. This allowed me to stay active while learning different wrapping techniques, and how to support my team. I believe that my experience as an athletic trainer gives me a unique perspective on how to apply different injuries whether minor or major.

in the meantime, I'm excited to create an iFixit guide for cleaning and restoring track spikes. I've helped my friends and even myself fix our spikes before, but to write a guide about how to go about it is new to me. As a former athlete, i am interested in taking the spikes apart, washing them, and making them wearable again. It would be amazing to compare the before and after products and i hope my guide will help others and save them money perhaps.
