Introduction

This guide will show how to replace the Socket G2 CPU in your Latitude E6530 laptop.

Parts

Step 1

Flip over the laptop.

Step 2

Pull back the 2 battery tabs which are to the left and the right of the battery.

Step 3

Remove the battery from the laptop.

Step 4

Remove the 4 Philips #0 screws from the laptop.

Step 5

Remove the bottom cover from the laptop.

Step 6

Remove the fan connector.

Step 7

Remove the 4 Philips #1 screws on the heatsink.

Step 8

Remove the Fan+Heatsink assembly.

Step 9

Use a paper towel or alcohol swab to clean the thermal paste from the heatsink & CPU.

DO NOT use a paper towel. You want to use a lint-free wipe. Else you will contaminate the surface of the CPU heat spreader, compromising heat transfer.

Step 10

Use a flathead screwdriver and turn the CPU lock counter-clockwise.
Remember to turn the CPU Lock clockwise when you install the new CPU! If you don't do this, the computer won't boot up.
