Introduction

Use this guide to replace the SSD in your Dell Inspiron 5570.

Before you perform this repair, back up your existing SSD if possible. If you’re replacing the SSD where your operating system is installed, familiarize yourself with a disk cloning utility so you’ll be ready to migrate your data to the new SSD.

    • Pull the tab on the head of the battery cable away from the socket to disconnect the battery.

Newer Dell OEM batteries may not have a pull tab (or a tab as long as the one shown) on the connector to help. So, you can use 2 spudgers or your fingernails to press on both sides of the white part of the connector in order to gently pull out the battery connector.

    • Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the 4 mm-long screw securing the silver SSD shield.

    • Use your Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screw.

The laptop will lack a thermal plate for M.2 PCIe SSD, if the laptop was bought with only a 2.5" SATA HHD/SSD. However, you may purchase the plate from Dell's OEM parts site.
