last night, i randomly became unable to connect to wi-fi connections that worked: basically my computer recognizes a few different types of connections: wlan0, wlan2 and wlan(BunchOfCharacters). wlan(BunchOfCharacters) was the only kind of connection that worked, the others simply do not, and last night i just lost the ability to connect to them.

furthermore, the light on my USB wifi adapter is no longer on, but it does turn on when connected to other computers. i have a feeling that the drivers for the adapter got screwed with after a kernel or some kind of firmware update, which messed with the adapters drivers.

here are the outputs for lsusb and lspci:

i'd like to add that this isnt the first time this has happened, last month not only did i experience similar issues but it also got to the point where even USB tethering (what im using now) stopped working. i would also like to add a link to the USB adapter that i use for WiFi and bluetooth: https://www.edimax.com/edimax/merchandise/merchandise_detail/data/edimax/au/bluetooth/ew-7611ucb/
